Lyrical Painting
Description
I expressed the song “Let Your Troubles Roll By” by Carbon Leaf, using acrylic paint washes and lot of layers. I started the painting with a loot of light colors in see through washes. Then I basically covered that all up with the road and sun flowers. The painting turned out a little darker than I was anticipating, considering the song is actually pretty happy. I incorporated lyrics into the sunflowers, but now they are basically covered by the top layers of paint. I struggled trying to decide what kind of imagery to use for this song, and decided on sunflowers because of one of the lyrics in the song. Overall the painting did not turn out how I was hoping it would, but I am still happy with the outcome.

Reflection
1. The most challenging part of this project was getting all the washes to stay on the board without washing away the paint below it to show the already existing graphic underneath.
2. The most fun part was painting around the transfer and making it look like it belongs in the painting.
3. Learning about washes made me more open to different styles of painting. It helped me understand how to make a picture have more depth without adding a lot of detail.
