Reflection and Writing Goals
Goals:
1. Improving Sentence Structure - I have a really hard time with run on sentences and not expanding my sentence structures. I can continue to improve on this problem by being aware and spending a lot of time refining my writing.
2. More Creative Word Choice - I could definitely work on expanding my vocabulary in order to make my writing more interesting and complex. To expand my vocabulary I can work on keeping a thesaurus open when I'm writing and being aware of the complexity of my writing. I have good base and my pieces of writing are well structured, but there are definitely ways I can make these pieces more engaging and diverse.
3. Responding to Text in a Relevant Way - I occasionally tent to write about whatever I want to or whatever my opinion is rather than responding directly to a prompt. I don't think this will fly as well in college as it has worked our for me here at Animas. I should learn how to answer prompts directly in a efficient manner.
Reflection:
I went through several drafts of my essay and I struggled by far the most with finding a topic. I went though a lot of different ideas and actually rewrote my essay quite a few times. It was challenging to write a sophisticated paper about myself having never written something like that. I finally chose a topic and wrote a general draft of my essay on the topic that resonated the most with my personality and goals.

US Model Senate Project
The Project,
This project was amodel senate including all the members of our senior class. Each student was assigned a senator and some were also asigned a special role such as chairs, ranking members, majority and minority whips, experts, and lobbyists. My role in this model senate was as the senator Barbara Boxer, a democrat from California, along with being an expert on the Health and Public Works Committee. The project included writing legislation, speaches, and researching senator positions and the topics our model senate was covering. These topics were immigration, climate change, and college debt.
Because I was a specialized role, I did not right legislation for the committee that I was assigned for, but rather spent time researching and becoming an expert in climate change. Instead of writting this legislation, I wrote a mock bill that we did in a mock senate to practice parlimentary procedure. I also wrote a speach from the point of view of an expert rather than that of my senator. The rest of the senate I played the role of a usual senator and voted and participated as Barbara Boxer.
